Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Ariel University on Tuesday, January 8 – the first visit by a prime minister since the institution received university status last month.
It is our honor and pleasure to finally be able to inform you that as of this morning, the 12th of Tevet, 5773, December 25th, 2012, Ariel University is a reality.
Ariel University Center is on its way to receiving full recognition of its official university status. It’s been a long, windy road. As we near the light at the end of the tunnel there are still a number of potholes in our way.
American Friends of Ariel and the Department of Education in Ariel hosted a celebratory evening honoring this year’s educational achievements at Nachshonim Elementary school.
Over a three-day period, the Ariel University Center was proud to award some 2,047 graduates with their diplomas.
Each year the American Friends of Ariel provides scholarships for residents of Ariel who study for their bachelor degrees in colleges and universities across Israel. The scholarship committee requires and reviews basic criteria such as a residency of at least 5 years in Ariel, personal need for financial aid, and a genuine will to give back to the city.
Ariel University Center hosted an exciting inaugural program in honor of a new scholarship fund. The fund was initiated by Irving and Cherna Moskowitz to assist masters and doctoral students complete their advanced degrees. Laptops were provided to Ariel’s kindergarten managers in a ceremony on May 22, 2012. The event marked the completion of “Laptop for Every Teacher,” the distribution of laptops to all the education teams in the city from kindergarten to the 12th grade.
The Ariel University Center (AUC) continues to move towards reaching the status of Israel’s seventh full-fledged university. In the interim, AUC will hold its popular Conference for Law and Mass Media on April 2, with an all-star group of speakers and presenters.
On June 12, 2011, American Friends of Ariel and the Department of Education in Ariel hosted a celebratory evening honoring this year’s educational achievements.
On the 25th of May, the city of Ariel held a grand ceremony in honor of Ariel University Center. The celebration was held at The Ariel Regional Center for the Performing Arts, and was covered by Israel’s Channel 10.
