While every year, we look forward to honoring the city’s most outstanding teachers in a special evening event at the Ariel Regional Center for Performing Arts, this year’s COVID-19 restrictions made that impossible. Since the teachers wouldn’t be able to come to the event, we brought the event to them!
Mayor Eli Shaviro, Ariel Department of Education Chairman Shelly Koren, American Friends of Ariel (AFA) Executive Director Elad Metsuyanim, and Dorith Nachman attended 7 different ceremonies at each of the schools.
Ariel Department of Education Chairman Shelly Koren was the master of ceremonies, inviting Mayor Shaviro, Elad Metsuyanim, the head of each of the PTA’s, and the principal of each school to speak. There was also beautiful musical accompaniment although our performers kept changing as they got put into isolation due to contact with a COVID-19 patient……
Masks were given out with the quote “Education with a Smile”.
We are learning very well how to roll with the punches and as they say “The show must go on!!!”

Mazel Tov to all of our honorees, we know this year was extra challenging due to the sudden home schooling situation and the stress of COVID on parents and children alike. We thank you and appreciate all you do for the children of Ariel!
